Pneumaceptology?

What is Pneumaceptology?

Pneumaceptology is the theological and exegetical discipline concerned specifically with the reception of the Holy Spirit as this reality is disclosed across the unfolding economy of redemption. Rather than treating Spirit-reception only incidentally within broader discussions of soteriology, ecclesiology, or pneumatology, pneumaceptology approaches it as a distinct and integrative locus of study. It therefore investigates eight interrelated dimensions of Spirit-reception: the nature of the Gift of the Holy Spirit, the timing of its reception, the means by which it is mediated, the significance of its empowering work, the narrative patterns through which Scripture depicts it, its covenantal significance within the New Covenant, and its immediate and ongoing effects in the life of the believer. In this way, pneumaceptology establishes a focused framework for examining the biblical data with greater precision, coherence, and theological depth.

Nature – What is the Gift of the Holy Spirit?

Timing – When does a believer receive the Holy Spirit?

Mediation – How is the Holy Spirit received?

Empowerment – What does empowerment mean?

Narrative pattern – What patterns does Scripture reveal for receiving the Holy Spirit?

Covenantal significance – What is the significance of receiving the Spirit in the New Covenant?

Immediate results – What happens when the Spirit is received?

Ongoing results – What are the ongoing results relative to receiving the Spirit?
